Catalouge for the Swedish photography exhibition Planket 2007. The Planket group: Emilia Bergmark Jiménez, Per Englund, Per Kristiansen, Maria Pantomella Nominated in Kolla 2009
Today, 25 years after Plankets birth it is still seen as an innovative and ground breaking event, which inspired the Planket group 2007 to revive the tradition. The exhibition 2007 included almost 100 photographers who showed up to display their work on the 80 meters long, red fence in Vitabergsparken. The catalouge is designed so it´s 98 pages can be folded out to a 7 meter long strip, creating a small meta exhibit. In order to give all photographers, whether established or still students, the same importance there is a number index. To communicate Plankets unique diversity of all kinds of photographers the paper arctic glacier which has different surfaces was used. Other details such as typography and layout were shaped to strenghthen this theme. Producing the catalouge was done in the same “spirit” as the exhibition. It depended completely on pro bono work and is hand bound and glued by the Planket group along with several of the photographers and friends from the exhibit. The catalouge is designed so it´s 98 pages can be folded out to a 7 meter long strip. The paper Arctic Glacier has been used to give the folders two sides different surfaces - one glossy and one matte. Every year one hundred photographers present their work (and themselves) in an open-air exhibition in Stockholm. The exhibition lasts for two days, carefully planned to coincide with the statistically sunniest weekend of the year, the glorious moment when Swedish souls expand after a long and dismal winter. During the years 1982-1994, Planket in Vitabergsparken was a yearly photography exhibition, which attracted a great deal of photographers and visitors. The exhibition was inspired by outdoor art events in Washington Square Park in New York. The aim of the exhibition was to display the great diversity within Swedish photography, in a place accessible to the public. Today, 25 years later Planket is still seen as an innovative and ground breaking event, which inspired the Planket group 2007 to revive the tradition. Thus, on June 30th, 2007 Planket resurfaced after 13 years. Close to 100 photographers showed up to display their work on the 80 meters long, red fence. Despite persisting rain the day offered numerous expressions within photography, pick nicks and, not to forget, some great memories.
